Stone Hinge Installation Instructions

For Blackstone griddles that have a hardcover size of 28", 36", and 44"

BEFORE YOU START

• Install time: ~5–10 minutes
• Tools needed: 7/64" and 5/32" Allen Wrenches, 7/16" and 3/8" Wrench
• Tip: Do not fully tighten the Hinge mounting nuts until you complete the final adjustment.

CONTENTS INCLUDE:

• Stone Hinge 2x	• Handle assembly 1x
• Hinge screws 4x	• Hinge shoulder bolt 2x
• Hinge nuts 4x	• Hinge shoulder nut 2x

INSTALLATION

INSTALL THE HINGES

1) Remove the griddle hardcover from the griddle top.

2) Position one Stone Hinge against the outside of the griddle as shown in Image 1. Make sure the hinge is oriented with the bolt hole in the correct direction.

• Align the two slotted holes marked A with the griddle’s pre-drilled mounting holes.
• The single upper hole marked B must point toward the back of the griddle.

3) Insert two Hinge screws through the outside of the slotted holes. Thread the mounting nuts on, but do not fully tighten them. Hinges should feel loose at this stage.

4) Repeat steps 2-3 for the second Hinge on the other side.

 

5) Place the hardcover back on the griddle with the pre-drilled holes of the hardcover toward the rear. The Hinges should be:
• Attached to the OUTSIDE of the griddle
• Positioned INSIDE the hard cover 

In other words, the Hinge sits between the griddle and the hard cover. (See Image 2)

 

6) Lift the cover slightly and align

its mounting hole with the upper hole in the Hinge.

Insert the shoulder bolt:
→ From the OUTSIDE of the cover

→ Through the hard cover
→ Through the Hinge

Install the shoulder nut and tighten it securely. (See image 2)

7) Repeat step 6 for the other Hinge on the opposite side.

INSTALL THE HANDLE

1) Remove the nuts on the back of the Handle Assembly. Remove the Handle plate and place the screws and nuts aside. (See image 3)

2) Measure the front edge of the hard cover and mark its center. (See image 4)

3) Lift the front of the hard cover slightly and position the Handle at the center mark. 

4) Place the Handle Plate behind the hard cover’s front lip. The front lip should be clamped between:

• The Handle on the front
• The Handle plate on the back

(See image 5)

5) Insert the Handle screws through the front of the Handle and through the Handle plate. Install and tighten the Handle nuts. When properly installed, the Handle and Handle Plate will clamp securely around the front lip of the hard cover.

FINAL ADJUSTMENTS TO YOUR GRIDDLE

Because griddle dimensions can vary slightly, the Stone Hinges have slotted mounting holes that allow the hard cover to move forward or backward.

1) Close the hard cover and check the Handle Plate at the front of the griddle.

2) Slide the hard cover forward or backward until the lip of the Handle Plate rests on the front edge of the griddle. The Handle Plate—not the Handle nuts—should contact the griddle’s front edge.  (See image 6)

3) Check that the hard cover is centered, opens and closes smoothly, and sits correctly on the griddle.

4) Without moving the hard cover, fully tighten the four Hinge mounting nuts. (See image 7)

5) Open and close the hard cover once more to confirm that it moves freely and remains properly aligned.

 

DON’T HAVE PRE-DRILLED MOUNTING HOLES?

OLDER GRIDDLE MODELS

No problem — Stone Hinge can still work with your griddle. Some older griddle models may not have factory mounting holes. If you're comfortable adding them yourself, use the measurements below as a reference. 

Each side requires two mounting holes:
• Both holes: 0.75" above the bottom edge
• Rear hole: 1" from the back edge
• Front hole: 3.75" from the back edge
• Hole diameter: 9/32"

Measure carefully and confirm the location on both sides before drilling.
